PESHAWAR: Engineer Shaukatullah Khan has tendered resigned from the post of Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) while federal government has nominated Mehtab Abbasi for the post, ARY News reported on Tuesday.
According to sources, the federal government has been recommending to change KPK governor, Shaukatullah Khan, who was appointed in February 2012 by then-president Asif Ali Zardari, on the advice of then-prime minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf.
Shaukatullah Khan had replaced veteran Barrister Masood Kausar after being suffered due to health problems.
Following his resignation, PML-N’s senior leader Mehtab Abbasi is likely to take oath as the governor KPK on April 11.
Previously, Mehtab Abbasi had served as governor KPK from 1997-99.
