Police arrest 57 during Karachi search operation

According to details, police have arrested 57 people while Sindh Rangers have nabbed a total of 145 people from different areas of Karachi within last 24 hours.

Police launched a search operation in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Essa Nagri and Zaman Town areas of the city in the night between Thursday and Friday. Police sources claim to have arrested 22 people from Essa Nagri, five suspects from Madina Colony while four Afghan nationals were taken into custody from Peerabad.

A criminal was arrested in injured condition after a brief shootout in Shanti Nagar Area.

Rangers personnel arrested almost 145 people from different areas of Karachi within last 24 hours.

The arrests came as Police and Rangers have intensified the Karachi operation after a brazen daylight attack on minority Ismaili community which killed 47 people on Wednesday.

About 60 people were on the bus when it was stopped in the Safoora Chowk area on its way to the Ayesha Manzil Ismaili centre, police said.

Karachi police chief Ghulam Qadir Thebo said several suspects had been taken into custody, most of whom were members of banned militant outfits.
