KARACHI: Police launched a combing operation on Friday morning in district Malir after sealing entry and exit points in Gadap and Airport areas, ARY News reported.
SSP Malir told the media that the operation has been initiated after intelligence reports about presence of suspects in these areas.
In Gadap all exit and entry points of Yasrab Colony have been sealed by the large contingents of police and door to door search has been underway.
Moreover, in Shah Faisal Town a search operation has been launched in areas surrounding the airport.
A Rangers led operation against terrorism, targeted killings, kidnapping for ransom, extortion and other crimes launched in September 2013 in Karachi. The operation curbed these crimes and a semblance of peace achieved in the metropolis.
The graph of killings, major incidents of terrorism and kidnapping for ransom went down after the operation, while attacks on policemen have been successfully controlled, the common citizens and businessmen living a life without threats of kidnapping or extortion.
According to a report in the year 2013, around 57 incidents of terrorism reported. The number increased to 66 in 2014 and 199 in 2015. The number of incidents, however, decreased to 16 in 2016 and finally zero in 2017. Two incidents were recorded in year 2018, the report said.
