Police foil terror bid in Karachi ahead of Eid-ul-Azha

KARACHI: Police officials have claimed to foil a terrorism bid in Karachi ahead of Eid-ul-Azha and apprehended three suspects from Gulshan-e-Iqbal area of the city, ARY News reported on Saturday.

The terrorists were arrested from Madina Colony in Gulshan Iqbal, officials said. Police officials have identified the arrested terror suspects as Ubaidullah alias Bablu alias Motu, Bakht Buland Shah alias Buland and Arif Imtiaz Kidwai.

The arrested men have been affiliated with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and were planning to carry out a terrorist attack ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, police said.

SHO Gulshan Iqbal Safdar Mishwani has said that a brother of arrested terrorist was killed in a drone strike in tribal areas. He said the arrested TTP men have also been involved in clashes and attacks on the security forces.

He said that the arrested suspects have been jailed several times for various offences.

“The arrested terrorists were used to collect extortion money to fund the terrorist organization,” the SHO added.
