A wedding ceremony was going on in Islam Chowk area of Orangi Town when four personnel in civil dress barged into the ceremony. The purpose of the cop’s gate-crashing could not be ascertained as yet.
Witnessing the harsh behavior of the personnel, women in the gathering started to scream, thus drawing a huge mob who besieged the cops.
The mob also pelted police van with stones and thrashed the cops.
Additional contingent of police also arrived on the spot and resorted to aerial firing to disperse the mob and took along the four ‘misbehaving’ cops to Pakistan Bazaar Police Station.
Officials said police mistakenly raided the wrong place, however further investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, inspector general Sindh has taken notice of the incident and suspended all the four cops.
He ordered the officials to register case against the responsible police officers.
