KARACHI: A police officer was caught on camera buying drugs from illegal drug sellers in Karachi’s Rehri goth area.
According to details, a video obtained by ARY News shows a police officer buying drugs from illegal drug sellers within the precincts of Sakhan police station.
The police officer can be seen buying drugs from an illegal drug seller and leaving on his motorcycle in the video. The law enforcement agency personnel seems unbothered by presence of large number of drug addicts and sellers around him.
Soon after the news was aired, Karachi police chief Ameer Shaikh took notice of the incident and ordered DIG East to conduct an inquiry into the matter. The police chief also ordered the DIG to take steps for elimination of drug trade in the area.
It is pertinent to note here that ARY News also ran a special report regarding drug peddlers making Rehri Goth and surrounding areas the center of their illegal business.
The report too had revealed that some police personnel are protecting drug peddlers after extorting them.
Addicts in groups of two, three can still be seen lying in streets and lanes. Addicts come to these den to buy drugs and would sit anywhere they feel free to use the same.
