Police officer loses life in shootout with terrorists in Peshawar’s Hayatabad

PESHAWAR: A police officer was martyred in a shootout with terrorists’ group in Hayatabad, Peshawar on Monday night, ARY News reported.

Khyber Pakhtunkhuwa’s Information Minister Shaukat Yousafzai said one of the terrorists was also killed in firing by law enforcers during a shootout in phase-7.

Police raided the neighbourbood on a tip-off; however, the armed terrorists opened fire on the law enforcers. Resultantly a police officer lost his life.

The minister said the raid was conducted in view of recent terrorist attack on a judge and an additional inspector general in the area.

He said police surrounded the house where suspected terrorists were residing.

In February, A judge of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) Justice Ayub Khan Marwat was shot and injured in a deadly attack. Justice Ayub Khan Marwat got injured when some unknown motorcyclists opened fire on his vehicle in Hayatabad area of Peshawar. The police had said the justice was on his way to the high court when his vehicle came under attack.

He was rushed to a private hospital in Hayatabad where his condition was declared out of danger. Police officials said Marwat had received two bullets, while his driver was also injured.

Police had launched a search operation in the area to arrest the attackers.
