Police turn their guns on journalists after assaulting marchers

ISLAMABAD: Journalists and media persons, performing national duties to provide truth to the public, were brutally attacked by police during anti-government protests by PAT and PTI in Constitution Avenue of Islamabad. ARY News team also fall prey to the police brutality.

In most of the incidents, police personnel first checked the identity cards of journalists and assaulted them after identification. ARY News team including its cameraman and a reporter also came under attack near D-Chowk where cops are stationed to attack protesters and journalists.

Camera men of three other private TV channels were also brutally assaulted by the Punjab police. In one instance, the cops dragged a journalist out of his DSNG van and subjected him to torture.

PTI chief Imran Khan said police were assaulting journalists to hide their own wrongdoings.

He termed all ‘rogue’ cops as Gullu Butts.

Governor Sindh Dr. Ishratul Ibad said media is the fourth pillar of the state and attacking journalists was tantamount to attacking democracy.
