Karachi: Policeman killed in targeted attack

KARACHI: Unidentified armed men on a motorbike killed a policeman in Karachi’s North Nazimabad area on Saturday morning.

The gunmen opened fire on the policeman, Munawwar Jamal, near Ziauddin Hospital in North Nazimabad, leaving him dead on the spot. The slain policeman’s body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

The investigators have found two spent bullets from the crime scene.

Late constable Munawwar Jamal was a resident of Kausar Niazi Colony. He was going to his duty at New Karachi police station when targeted by the killers.

Constable Jamal has been second policeman killed by hitmen in Karachi within two days.

I.G. Police Sindh AD Khawaja has called report from DIG Police (West) on the policeman killing.

Another policeman, in-charge Korangi police post, Shahzad Akhtar, was killed on Thursday night in a targeted attack.

Police has been the key target of terrorists during ongoing Karachi operation against criminals and terrorists. Around 27 policemen have been killed in the city during this year.
