The policeman was later succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
Sub Inspector Mukhtiar Malgani, who was on the way to his duty at Kharotabad police station, was targeted at Smungli Road of the city by unidentified attackers.
The injured policeman first taken to Civil Hospital Quetta for medical attendance. Later, he was transferred to the Combined Military Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Sub Inspector Mukhtiar Ahmed Malgani had suffered two bullet wounds in head, which caused his death, hospital sources said.
Police has initiated investigation of the incident.
