Four policemen involved in Ahsan’s killing sent to jail on judicial remand

KARACHI: A court on Wednesday sent four police personnel allegedly involved in murder of a 19-month-old boy, Ahsan, to jail on four-day judicial remand, ARY News reported.

The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) police produced the suspects before a judicial magistrate in Malir and pleaded the court for physical remand so as they could interrogate and record their statements.

The CTD official apprised the court that as per initial investigations the child was not killed during an exchange of fire between police and robbers.

In fact, it was a dispute between two police officials over money, said that CTD officials and added that after scuffle, a police official , Abdul Samad had opened fire on his colleague Amjad but the bullet mistakenly hit the 19-month old boy, Ahsan and resultantly he was killed on the University Raod on April 16.

The court sent the police officials on a four-day judicial remand and adjourned the hearing of the case.

Earlier, Bullet shell found at the site of the incident of murder of a 19-month-old boy, Ahsan, had matched weapons of police officials on April 19.

Investigation sources had said forensic test of the weapons of the police officials, who posted on snap-checking near the site of the incident, was carried out.

They had said a shell of 9-mm pistol’s round had found at the site of the incident which belonged to the police officials on duty that day.

On April 16, Ahsan, had sustained a bullet in his chest fired from a police weapon resulting in his death.
