QUETTA: Unidentified armed men on Wednesday fired shots and injured a polio union council in-charge in District Qila Abdullah, ARY News reported.
The polio council in-charge, Naseeruddin, was seriously injured in the firing and was immediately moved to a hospital. The incident occurred near Gulistan area of Qandel Segai as it was a third day of anti-polio campaign in the province.
Levies sources told that Naseeruddin was regrouping his team after administering polio drops to children in the area as unidentified armed men arrived and opened fire on him. However, remaining anti-polio team members remained safe.
Deputy Commissioner Dawood Khilji said Naseeruddin sustained three bullet wounds and cited doctors as saying that his condition was out of danger.
