Polo Ground Reference: Accountability Court reserves verdict
ISLAMABAD: An Accountability Court resumed the hearing of polo ground reference against former President Asif Ali Zardari here in Islamabad on Monday, ARY News reports.
As the court resumed the hearing, Defence Lawyer Farooq H. Naek pleaded the court to hear the arguments of the petition filed for Zardari’s acquittal.
Farooq H. Naek told the court that the former President had given verbal orders to construct a polo ground in the Prime Minister’s House. He further told the court that Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) carried out the initial probe of the case whereas it was the duty of National Accountability Court (NAB).
He further informed the accountability court that Sub-Inspector Chaudhry Nijabat was appointed as the Chief Investigating Officer which was an unlawful act.
“Shafi Sehwani, co-accused in the case, had passed away whereas Saeed Mehdi Shah has been acquitted in the polo ground reference case“, he added.
On the other hand, NAB Prosecutor told the court that the charge sheet is ready against Zardari.
The court reserved its judgment over the petition whereas the hearing of the polo ground reference case has been adjourned till 6th March.
