Power producers warn of long hours of load shedding

KARACHI: Chairman Independent Power Producers Advisory Board has warned of long hours of power load shedding if the producers not paid dues immediately, ARY News reported on Thursday.

IPPs Advisory Board chairman Abdullah Yousuf talking to ARY News said that the circular debt of the energy sector has soared to over 300 billion rupees including 205 billions of the independent power producers.

Abdullah Yousuf said that the IPPs have utilized their all financial sources, if the government wants electricity from the IPPs, it has to ensure payment of their arrears.

He said the IPPs have power generation capacity of 8000 megawatts and presently they are producing 5000 megawatts power.
