PPL signs MoU with NED & Norwegian University

ISLAMABAD:  In order to produce skilled workforce, for the modernization of exploration and production industry, Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for industry-academia collaboration with NED University of Engineering and Technology (NED) and Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) on Thursday, ARY News reported.

Addressing on the occasion Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi at Serena Hotel in Islamabad said keeping in the view the increase of energy demand, enhancement of academic and technical competence is mandatory.

Managing Director (MD) of PPL Asim Murtaza Khan claimed that it is the first agreement between the E&P industry and national and foreign educational institutes.

He also gave an overview of the E&P industry as well as initiatives taken by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources to incentivize E&P business and draw local and foreign investment.

The initial duration of MoU is five years and expected to extend further, which extends PPL’s role in facilitating industry-academia linkages in the field of Petroleum Engineering besides training E&P professionals and enhancing research and development projects.
