PPP leader Shehla Raza ‘injured’ in road accident

KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader and former deputy speaker of the Sindh Assembly Shehla Raza sustained a minor injury in a road mishap on Friday.

The PPP leader was heading to the Sindh Secretariat when a motorist hit her vehicle and sped away from the spot. The former deputy speaker of the provincial assembly received minor injuries on her face and arms.

According to reports citing her secretary, Ms Raza received a minor injury close to her eye.

The PPP leader was under a debate on the social media  after a tweet posted from her account castigated appointment of renowned economist Atif Mian in the Economic Advisory Council over his faith.

The tweet was followed by pouring of condemnation from different people on Twitter and later Ms Raza denounced the statement and claimed that the tweet was posted by a member of her social media team. She also said the team was later fired after the mess.

During the July 25 election,  Shehla Raza lost NA-243 constituency against PTI Chairman Imran Khan who got 91,358 votes. She bagged 10,631 votes and came on the fourth after MQM’s Ali Raza Abidi with 24,082 votes on second and MMA’s Usama Razi having 16,214 votes on the third.
