PPP leaders ensure media men of their widespread support

KARACHI: Leaders of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) visited the protest demonstration staged by journalist fraternity outside the PEMRA office and expressed unity with media men – ARY News reports.

According to details, PPP leaders, Senator Raza Rabbani, Senator Saeed Ghani, Information Minister Sindh, Sharjeel Memon and Owais Muzaffar visited the protest sit-in outside the PEMRA office against ARY News closure.

On this eve, PPP leaders ensured media men of their widespread support at every forum. Senator Raza Rabbani said journalists struggled for a long time for the freedom of expression and PPP stands by them in this struggle.

Information Minister Sindh, Sharjeel Memon while condemning police torture on journalists in Islamabad, declared PEMRA decision of suspending ARY News as unconstitutional.

Saeed Ghani, Rashid Rabbani and Jameel Soomro referred to the closure of ARY News as a curb on media and an act in contradiction with democratic values.

PPP leaders clarified that neither PEMRA’s decision shall be implemented in Sindh, nor journalists will be subjected to oppression or torture.
