PPP’s Sherry Rehman was the only candidate to file the nomination papers for the Senate seat which was vacated by the party’s Abdul Latif Ansari.
The People’s Party leader has already served twice as a National Assembly member and is one of the party’s most senior leaders.
She is a former information minister along with the country’s ambassador to the United States.
