The provincial government of Sindh often faced intense criticism for not nominating a home minister to tackle law and order issues. The PPP-led Sindh government came under pressure after killing of Sabeen Mahmud and gruesome Safoora bus attack to take strong measures on anti-terrorism.

Mr. Siyal has also been handed over the additional charge of ministry of prisons. The trigger-happy supporters of the PPP leader resorted to intense firing outside Siyal House.

He was elected PPP lawmaker from PS-37 Larkana and considered to be close aide of Faryal Talpur, sister of Asif Ali Zardari.

Earlier, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah was holding the portfolio of provincial home ministry.
