Divisional Commercial Officer (DCO) of Pakistan Railway Nasir Nazeer informed that a trial special cargo train with two engines carrying weight of 3,450 ton departed from Karachi to Lahore.
Nasir Nazeer said that Pakistan Railway is planning to increase weight carrying capacity of cargo trains up to 3500 ton.
The trial special train has been built by placing two 2,000 horse engines, which were imported from China. It consists of forty big size bogies.
DCO Railway further informed that a successful experiment of transferring furnace oil and petroleum products from Karachi to Kotri through large oil wagons, which were imported from China, has also performed.
Nasir Nazeer said that carrying operation through large cargo and oil wagons will increase the revenues of Pakistan Railway.
