President confers Nishan-e-Imtiaz upon Italian air chief
'Pakistan keen to enhance bilateral ties with Italy in defence training'
ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi on Monday conferred the Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military) upon Chief of Staff of the Italian Air Force Lt. Gen Enzo Vecciarelli during an investiture ceremony at the Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad.
Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan, and senior military and civil officers were also present on this occasion.
Lt. Gen. Enzo Vecciarelli called on the president after the investiture ceremony.
Alvi congratulated the chief of staff of the Italian Air Force on the conferment of Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military) and emphasized that Pakistan attached great importance to its relations with Italy and regarded Italy as a friend and a reliable partner.
He said that Pakistan deeply valued its relations with Italy, both bilaterally and within the context of the European Union. He said that both countries enjoyed commonality of views on a host of regional and global issues and continued to work closely on all issues of common interest.
The president underscored that Pakistan was keen to enhance cooperation in defence training and institutional collaboration between the two countries. He also reiterated Pakistan’s commitment in eradicating extremism and terrorism from its soil.
Enzo Vecciarelli thanked the president, the government and people of Pakistan and hoped that bilateral relations between both the countries would continue to grow in the future.
