ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain has emphasized on using modern technology in the CPEC-related energy projects and said it would play a key role in the country`s long-term growth and stability.
He was talking to Chinese Minister for Science and Technology Wan Gang who called on him in Islamabad on Saturday.
The President said scientific knowledge and technology can bring value addition to China Pakistan Economic Corridor projects and Pakistan is keen to incorporate this knowledge in industry for value addition of local raw materials and finished products.
He said Pakistan would continue to focus on enhancing trade relations with China to bring them at par with bilateral political and strategic relations.
He said bilateral cooperation in the field of Science and Technology will help Pakistan benefit from China’s expertise in the field.
Mr. Hussain said the ambitious China-South Asian Countries Science and Technology Partnership Programme (CSA-STEP) will enhance our economic cooperation through Technology Transfer.
He noted with satisfaction that 17 protocols have been concluded so far in accordance with the Framework Agreement on Science and Technology signed between the two countries in 1976 and the 18th Protocol is being signed during this visit.
He added that friendship with China is the cornerstone of our foreign policy and our strategic partnership serves as an anchor for regional peace and stability.
The President underscored that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is the latest example of excellent economic cooperation.
