ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain has approved a summary sent by Caretaker Prime Minister Nasir-ul-Mulk to summon the National Assembly session on August 13, ARY News reported.

On the first day of the session, the new elected members of the National Assembly will take oath of their office. The oath will be followed by the elections of the speaker, the deputy speaker and then the leader of the house.

This whole process might take three to four days as the process of nomination papers, scrutiny of nomination papers and the election for the three posts would be time consuming.

As soon as the newly-elected prime minister would take oath, the job of the caretakers would be over and power would be transferred to the newly elected government under the law and the Constitution.

Earlier in a statement, Caretaker Minister for Information, Broadcasting and Law Barrister Ali Zafar said under the constitution, it was compulsory to summon the National Assembly session before August 15.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesman Fawad Chaudhry has said that his party chief Imran Khan will be elected prime minister in the first round of voting in National Assembly as the PTI enjoyed support of majority of MNAs in the house.
