Private clinics’ association criticises hospital closure, demands across the board action

KARACHI: Private Clinic and Hospital Association’s (PCHA)President Dr. Syed Junaid Ali Shah here on Friday demanded of the government to take indiscriminate and across the board action over over incidents of  negligence at public and private hospitals.

Criticizing the closure of a private hospital, Darul Sehat, Syed Junaid Ali Shah asked the government that young girl, Asmat was raped and killed at a government hospital in Korangi but why the hospital was not sealed yet?

Addressing a press conference, he further said, ” In 2014, a nurse had jumped from Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. Had the government sealed the public hospital?”

Dr. Syed Junaid Ali Shah demanded of the provincial government to improve its governance and ensure implementation of laws pertinent to hospitals and health sector.

He said, “When I was health minister, I had introduced a health bill in 2013 but why the bill could not be fully implanted so far?”  The doctor said that a comprehensive accountability system for hospitals should have constituted in the province. He condoled with the families of nine-month-old Nishwa and Asmat.

On the occasion, Dr. Syed Junaid Ali Shah, in a protest, announced to resign from the presidentship of PCHA.
