Prize bonds of SBP worth Rs.30mn stolen

KARACHI: Prize bonds of State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) worth Rs.30 million were stolen during its transportation from Lahore to Karachi, ARY News reported on Saturday.

Ten boxes of SBP’s prize bonds were being transported via Karachi Express scheduled to be arrived Karachi at 12:00 A.M. on Friday but the train reached at 2:00 A.M. with one box missing out of the ten.

According to sources, 16 Police officers and a SBP official were deputed on the security of prize bonds.

The high profile officials of SBP remained aware about the incident even after several hours passed of the tragedy, sources informed.

According to latest information, the bank has canceled the numbers prize bond, got stolen during transportation.

Furthermore, the Karachi Police Chief has constituted a three-member team to conduct the investigation.
