Protests caused billion rupees loss to Pakistan, says Asif

ISLAMABAD: Federal Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said the aim of protesters in Islamabad was to stop the inexpensive power projects in the country, ARY News reports.

Khawaja Mohammad Asif, talking to media in Islamabad, said that Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) caused billions of rupees of losses to the country by staging sit-ins for their political aims.

The defence minister said that the two parties created such an atmosphere that the Chinese President Xi Jinping’s tour of the country became impossible.

He also said that National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has rejected the petition of PTI regarding the power tariffs.
