PSCA busts gang involved in vehicle lifting

LAHORE: The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) on Tuesday busted a gang involved in vehicle lifting, said a statement issued here.

The PSCA said the gang used to target luxury vehicles and operated on a mini vehicle on which they had displayed a phony registration plate and would change it every week.

Anti-Vehicle Lifting Squad, CIA Police and many police stations were searching the same gang and they later shared details of vehicle used, patterns and location of crimes committed by the gang.

PSCA statement said it had a dedicated unit known as Vehicle Tracking Center that pursues all blacklisted vehicles through the vigorous surveillance and monitoring by the geo-strategic grid of CCTV camera across the metropolis, its entries and exits. The VTC team probed the modus operandi of the carjackers and spotted them at Kahna, leaving the city in the same car.

Through meticulous and timely dispatch of ground teams, the gang was arrested with the help of Dolphin Squad and other law enforcement personnel. The gang members were wanted in multiple cases in addition to the theft of more than a dozen luxury vehicles. Spokesperson PSCA said the body was working hand in hand with LEAs in their joint effort to make Lahore a safe city free of crime.
