SHARJAH: Sam Billings hit an unbeaten 78 to help Islamabad United beat Quetta Gladiators by five wickets in the seventh match of Pakistan Super League 2017 in Sharjah, ARY News reported.

Billings took to task every single bowler from Quetta side and hit boundaries all over the park keeping the rivals on back foot. Though the passionate Gladiators side took four wickets in the meantime, only Shane Watson managed to help Billings with his 27-ball 36.

Quetta’s Nawaz took two wickets while Hasan Khan took 1 wicket.

Earlier, Islamabad United won the toss and elected to field first.  Quetta Gladiators had a good start but as Ahmed Shahzad and Asad Shafiq took to IU bowlers to task from the very first over.

The joy was short lived as IU pacer Sami soon removed a dangerous looking Shahzad and with him the QG star Kevin Pietersen on two consecutive deliveries.

Sarfraz hit a few boundaries but soon lost his wicket.

Asad Shafiq secured one end and managed to score 45 runs on 42 balls. After Asad’s dismissal, Perera and Mahmudullah hit quick boundaries to take the score to 148 runs. Mahmudullah played an unbeaten 29 runs knock in 20 balls while Perera scored 27 runs off 18 balls.
