LAHORE: A petition has been filed with the Lahore High Court, seeking court orders for the federal government to provide free tickets of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) to people to watch the final in Lahore.

The petition was filed by the rights activist, Abdullah Malik. He argued in his plea that he was approached by many people complaining they couldn’t get the match tickets as they were virtually out of reach of ordinary citizens.

He also alleged that no steps were being taken to elements scalping of the match tickets.

“Some people within the cricket board are making a lot of money from the sale of tickets in the black market,” he claimed.

The petitioner’s counsel stated that his client was under severe stress after finding PSL tickets were being sold between Rs 4,000 and Rs 20,000. He added: “PSL is a single source of entertainment and everyone wants to be a part of it.”

He demanded that the Pakistan Cricket Board and federal and provincial governments should ensure provision of free tickets to the common man.
