PTI once again barred from holding press conference at PID
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) once again barred from holding press conference at Press Information Department (PID) in Islamabad on Thursday, ARY News reported.
Talking to media outside PID office, PTI Spokesman Naeem ul Haque said the ruling party was resorting to dictatorial tactics by barring them from holding press conference at PID.
“PID is not a personal asset of Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N), it is a public asset. We will not let the government do propaganda by using state’s resources,” he said blaming that the government was using the department for personal gains.
He said Rs32 billion were issued for advertisements, with pictures of Sharif brothers, from this very department.
This should be noted that PID is the principal department of Ministry of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage headed by Principal Information officer (PIO).
PID is working since 1947 with the mission to establish an authentic source for timely dissemination of information to people through all forms of media.
PID aims to publicize the government policies and also to apprise the government about the impact of its policies.
Naeem said the ruling party’s leaders held press conference and fled from the backdoor and after that all doors of the building were locked.
He said former information minister Pervaiz Rasheed had once given them permission to hold presser, which went very well.
The PTI spokesman said he had sought permission from PIO in this regard.
“It makes no difference for us to hold media talk in the building, however it is a symbolic attempt to test whether the government will keep putting hurdles in freedom of speech for journalists and opposition parties or not,” he said.
Naeem-ul-Haque also demanded to make Dawn Leaks investigation report as well as Model Town incident report public.
