OKARA: As part of ongoing political events, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Sunday is set to hold a public gathering in Okara’s football ground.

All arrangements have been finalized and an 80-feet long stage has been set up. The venue has been decorated with party flags and posters and as many as 20,000 chairs have been placed.

The city administration has inspected all security arrangements for the event by late night, deploying police personnel at and around the venue.

All activists and workers of the PTI kept on rallying across the city on Saturday night in an attempt to mobilize masses to attend today’s public gathering.

PTI chief Imran Khan is expected to address the rally, besides other central and district-level leaders.

Khan is also expected to comment on the Supreme Court’s recent verdict, exonerating him from corruption charges and disqualifying PTI MNA Jahangir Tareen, and current political situation of the country in his speech today.

On Saturday, he said that no financial wrongdoing was found against Jahangir Tareen and he was disqualified ‘only on interpretation of a trust deed’.

In a tweet, he said: “Diff [difference] between JKT [Jahangir Khan Tareen] & NS [Nawaz Sharif] is stark in JKT’s principled position & NS holding on to party office. Also unlike NS who is guilty of corruption, money laundering, tax evasion, concealment of assets; no financial wrongdoing found ag JKT – disqualified only on interpretation of Trust deed.”

He said the case of Jahangir Tareen was different than ousted PM Nawaz Sharif. “The difference is stark, as Sharif is guilty of corruption, money laundering, tax evasion and concealment of assets,” Khan added.

He added, “JKT you have shown unswerving commitment to the cause of Naya Pakistan & worked with utmost dedication for our cause. For me it doesn’t matter whether you hold a position in PTI or are in Parliament, you will always remain right next to me as we build Naya Pakistan InshaAllah.”
