PTI dissatisfied with Asif’s statement on Yemen
According to details, PTI chairman Imran Khan left the joint session of the Parliament for undeclared reasons, at which Shah Mehmood Qureshi addressed the house speaking on his party’s behalf.
Qureshi in his address said that the policy statement of the Defence Minister Khwaja Asif lacked clarity, hence misunderstandings over the issue still prevail.
He said that everyone should have a unified stance on sensitive foreign policy issues and suggested proper assessment of the Yemen crisis and then to achieve a national consensus on it.
He said that having a unified stance on Yemen will increase Pakistan’s credibility.
The PTI leader said that Saudi media is giving an impression that the kingdom has been given a concrete assurance by Pakistan. He stressed that Pakistan’s role must be transparent and the House should be informed about the reality.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that Pakistan’s policy on Yemen will have both internal and external implications and we must be aware of it.
He also demanded the government to clarify whether there exists any territorial threat to Saudi Arabia.
