ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) on Monday filed a reference in the Supreme Judicial Council seeking disqualification of  the incumbent chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), ARY News reported.

The reference said that NAB chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry has failed to perform his duties in an effective manner and the Panamagate verdict has proved it by ordering a formation of joint investigation team (JIT). It has also been claimed in the reference that the NAB chairman has been incapable to head an anti-corruption watchdog.

Talking to media, the PTI spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry alleged that the anti-corruption watchdog has been listed among the most corrupt institutions of the country adding that a reference has been filed against him through Advocate Chaudhry Faisal Hussain.

“The NAB chairman should resign from his post”, PTI spokesperson said while quoting apex court’s remarks in Panamagate verdict that NAB has remained dysfunctional to counter corruption.

He said that NAB has been negligent in probing Nawaz Sharif and his family’s offshore properties and the reference has been filed in the light of the Supreme Court’s recent Panama case verdict.
