PTI foreign funds: ECP issues notice to Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued notice to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan over a petition seeking his disqualification.

The ECP has annexed the PTI funds and disqualification of its chief Imran Khan for hearing.

The commission has sought reply of Imran Khan over a petition filed against alleged foreign funding of the PTI.

Petitioner Hashim Bhutta has claimed in his plea that the PTI has collected funds from foreign sources. The petitioner has said that the party has collected 2.992 million dollars funds from year 2001 to 2013 from foreign sources and it is being run with the foreign funds.

The petitioner’s counsel said that Imran Khan had misinformed the ECP said that he never received any funds from a foreign country and thus violated the relevant clauses of the constitution.

After preliminary hearing the ECP sent a notice to Imran Khan.

The case hearing was adjourned till December 1st.
