PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) staged a protest against excessive and widespread power load-shedding in the parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province here on Wednesday afternoon.

The PTI workers led by party leader Aisha Gulalai and Ali Ameen Ghandapur besieged the WAPDA House and raised slogans against the power utility and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government in the centre, for failing to meet its campaign promise to end load-shedding in the country.

Some enraged party workers shattered a gate and broke into the Wapda House. The PTI workers also tried to break open another gate, prompting the law enforcement agencies to deploy more reinforcements to avoid any untoward incident.

PTI MNA Aisha Gulalai in order to give tough time to the PML-N government had given four-day deadline to end load-shedding in the province while threatening to launch strong protests after its failure to accept the demand.

Gulalai blamed the PML-N leaders’ ineptitude for ongoing energy crisis and said the government has failed to provide any relief to general public in return for the taxes that it receives from them.
