PTI seeks govt’s clarification on army statement

ISLAMABAD: Vice President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that the party will not hold talks with the government till they clarify statements regarding military’s role of mediator in the current political crisis, ARY News reports on Friday.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the government is looking confused. He further said that Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had requested yesterday the military to play a role in the political crisis.

PTI leader also said that the party chairman Imran Khan has clarified his stance to Army Chief General Raheel Sharif.

“The government should make it clear whether we (PTI) should accept the statements given yesterday or today”, Qureshi asked. He added that negotiations will not move forward till the government clarifies its position.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, in his address to the National Assembly, had said that the government did not request the military to play the role of mediator in the political crisis in the country.
