PTI seeks LB polls in KP under Judiciary, through bio-metric system
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has written a letter to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) requesting it to conduct the Local Body (LB) elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) under the supervision of Judiciary – ARY News reports.
In a letter written on Wednesday, the PTI Chairman, Imran Khan requested the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) to hold the LB polls in KP under the Judiciary.
Imran Khan further requested the CEC to conduct the polls through bio-metric system, saying that for free and transparent elections every possible measure is necessary to be taken.
On the other hand, KP Minister for Local Bodies, Inayatullah has said that the ECP has expressed its approval for conducting the polls through bio-metric system.
He added that the formation of delimitations is ongoing in the province and the polls could be conducted in the first week of April, next year.
The KP Minister said that conducting the polls through biometric system and under Judiciary’s supervision will enhance the credibility of the LB elections.
