PTI spokesman serves Rs2 bn defamation notice to Maryam Nawaz

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf spokesman Naeem-ul-Haq has served a legal notice to the premier’s daughter Maryam Nawaz, demanding Rs2 billion as compensation for conducting false media trial, ARY News reported.

The PTI spokesman has asked Maryam Nawaz to submit a reply within 15 days, else the matter would be taken to court of law.

The notice states that Maryam carried out fake media trial of Haq by issuing a notice on October 31, 2016 which was later circulated on national media with ill intention.

Haq said that the allegations were false, scandalous and without any evidence. Haq claimed that he suffered a loss of Rs2 billion in wake of media trial.

He further said that Maryam Nawaz has was not a member any security but had access to high-level information. The premier’s daughter has also been asked to provide a copy of the Dawn Leaks investigation report without any omission within 15 days.

Previously, Maryam had sent a notice to Haq for accusing her of being responsible for leaking sensitive information discussed at a high-level national security meeting last year.
