PTI to bring CM Punjab from South Punjab: sources

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Thursday decided to nominate a South Punjab MPA for the position of Punjab chief minister, sources told ARY News.

According to ARY News correspondent, Lahore heavy weights Aleem Khan and Yasmeen Rashid are out of the race as party has decided to bring someone from South Punjab as Chief Minister.

A consultative meeting chaired by PTI chief and likely new prime minister Imran Khan is now mulling over names of Makhdoom Hashim Jawan Bakht, Muhammad Khan Laghari, Jahanzeb Kacchi and Hasnain Bahadur. All four belong to South Punjab.

Hashim Jawan Bakht won seats from PP-259 Rahim Yar Khan-V and PP-261 Rahim Yar Khan-VII, Muhammad Khan Laghari is from PP-292 Dera Ghazi Khan-VIII, Jahanzeb Kacchi is from PP-236 Vehari-VIII and Hasnain Bahadur is from PP-294 Rajan Pur-II.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), on the other hand has nominated former CM Punjab’s son Hamza Shehbaz Sharif as Punjab Chief Minister candidate.
