PUC welcomes Peace process, appeals for cease fire from both sides

FAISALABAD: Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) while greeting the peace-process has appealed Taliban and the Government of Pakistan for a cease fire from both sides for 3 months and urged that no blast should occur during this period – ARY News reports.

Addressing a press conference at Jamia Qasmia here on Thursday, Chairman PUC Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi vowed that the PUC will fully support the dialogue process with Taliban and it will observe Youm e Dua e Aman in this regard on January 31.

He added that a meeting of the representatives from all political and religious parties has been called on February 6 in Islamabad, pertaining to negotiations between the Government and Taliban.

Ashrafi stated that the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has first time expressed seriousness over peace talks, whilst he also welcomed satisfaction on Peace Talks Committee by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

The Chairman PUC demanded PM Nawaz Sharif to ask Obama and Karzai to abandon training camps of terrorists in Afghanistan.

He also demanded the Government of Pakistan to return the people who migrated from Waziristan and to insure their safety.

On this occasion, Tahir Ashrafi and General Secretary PUC, Sajizada Zahid Qasmi also distributed prizes among the position holder students of a written and debate competition.
