Punjab govt striving to provide best medical facilities at public hospitals: minister

LAHORE: Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmeen Rashid on Friday said that the provincial government was striving to provide best medical facilities to patients at public hospitals.

Talking to journalists, during her surprise visit to Holy Family Hospital in Rawalpindi, Dr Yasmeen Rashid said that ensuring cleanliness and provision of medicine in the public sector hospitals were among her top priorities.

She visited operation theater, medicine room and other departments of the hospital to monitor the conditions and quality of care being administered to patients. The minister also visited patients and asked about their health and facilities being provided by the hospital.

A woman, on January 13, had complained the federal Minister for Health Services Aamir Mehmood Kayani about the rude staff and shortage of medicines at the Holy Family Hospital in Rawalpindi.

The woman had told the minister, who was on the visit to monitor the healthcare facilities in the hospital, that she was forced to buy the medicines from outside the hospital.
