Punjab calls Rangers for law and order

LAHORE: The government of Punjab has decided to call paramilitary Rangers from August 10 to 14 in view of the situation in the province ahead of the Azadi March, ARY News reported on Friday.

The provincial government has decided to deploy five companies of Rangers in Lahore for maintenance of law and order, sources said.

The decision has been taken due to security concerns over Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf’s (PTI) long march to Islamabad, sources said.

The provincial government has taken decision to meet any untoward incident during the march.

PTI has announced its long march to Islamabad to press for its demands over alleged irregularities during May 2013 general elections in Pakistan.
