Punjab cops to get training on using e-gadget app: IG

LAHORE: Inspector General Punjab Police Amjav Javed Saleemi on Monday chaired a high-level meeting and discussed ways for maximum utilization of e-gadget mobile app made for the citizens so they could lodge complaints to the law enforcers, ARY News reported.

The meeting decided to improve police stations’ record management system, and the system would be monitored by IG Punjab.

The IG said the next meeting on crime incidents would take place in view of complaints received through a recently-formed portal.

The meeting decided that two police officers from each district will be given training regarding e-gadget app. The IG Sindh ordered that cases regarding recruitment of children of martyred cops should be settled at the earliest.

The officials were also directed to furnish report by April 1 regarding pending cases of pensions of retired cops.

Lahore Police had recently launched a mobile application to monitor, trace and recover stolen mobile phones. The mobile application has been developed in joint cooperation by Punjab Police and Punjab Information Technology board (PITB).

The mobile application, named E-Gadget can be downloaded from Android Playstore or Apple Istore.

People associated with the mobile phone business will be able to register themselves easily through the E-Gadget app.

The shopkeepers will save IMEI numbers of each mobile phone in the application so that the database of stolen devices can be made available to the police.
