Punjab govt orders judicial inquiry into Lahore clash

LAHORE: Punjab government has ordered judicial inquiry into killing of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) workers during clash with police in Lahore, ARY News reported Tuesday.

At least eight supporters and activists of PAT were killed when police attempted to remove barriers in front of Minhaj-ul-Quran Secretariat, resulting intense clash between police and PAT supporters.

Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said Dr. Tahirul Qadri wanted to create anarchy in the country. “We will not allow some thousands people to besiege country.”

He said government will not even go a step behind to protect democracy. We would not hesitate laying down our lives for democracy in the country, he added.
