Punjab’s govt schools to be made better than private institutions: Murad Raas

LAHORE: Punjab Schools Education Minister Murad Raas on Wednesday said that PTI government is committed to improve quality of education at government schools and make them better than private educational institutions.

Talking to different delegations of teachers and educationists who called on him at his office, the minister said that government schools will be made better than the private institutions by use of different means including introduction of information technology to develop the budging minds as the leaders of tomorrow.

He told the visiting delegations that that positive changes will be introduced through sustained reforms so that schools education sector could be revamped according to changing needs of the 21st century.

The minister said that government school teachers are getting better salaries and facilities as compared to their counterparts in the private sector so their responsibilities are manifold.

“Our teachers are the change agents and their role is important in successful educational career of the students. We should therefore have to restore the respect of the teachers in the society,” said Raas.

He disclosed that two different boards will be constituted to monitor financial matters and the educational reforms and schools councils will be formed to help solve the problems of the schools.

He further told the delegations that a regularity authority will be constituted to deal with the matters pertaining to private schools.

“Along with it, complaint cell will be established and a monitoring system will also be devised to deal with the complaints and the reservations of the parents with regard to the education of their children will be timely solved,” said the minister.
