Punjab PPP, PML-N leaders meet today to discuss common strategy

LAHORE: A provincial level meeting of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) will be held in Punjab Assembly on Wednesday (today), sources said.

The meeting will be attended by the two opposition parties leaders including Rana Muhammad Iqbal, Iqbal Gujjar, Samiullah Khan, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Hassan Murtaza and others, sources said.

According to sources, the opposition parties leaders will consult over a joint political strategy in the assembly as well as out of the assembly.

The meeting will also discuss the formation of the standing committees in the assembly including the Public Accounts Committee.

The PPP and PML-N members will also discuss a joint line of action over the upcoming budget and other matters, sources said.

The meeting being held at the initiative of Hamza Shehbaz, who is the Leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly.

Hamza Shehbaz could not attend the opposition meeting due to hearing of his case at Lahore High Court, sources said.

The opposition parties will also exchange views over price hike and other public problems, according to the sources.

The leaders of the two parties will address a press conference after the meeting.

It is to be mentioned here that the opposition in Punjab Assembly backs Hamza Shehbaz, the opposition leader in the assembly, to be elected as chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) but the PTI led provincial government have reservations over his nomination.

Punjab Minister for Law and Local Government Muhammad Basharat Raja recently said that the Opposition wants Hamza Shahbaz as head of PAC but we have serious reservations as his name is being taken in various cases.
