Qaim unveils Rs 686 billion Sindh budget 2014-15

KARACHI: The Sindh government presented a tax-free Rs 686.179 billion budget for the fiscal year 2014-15 in the Sindh Assembly today, ARY News reported.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, who also holds the portfolio of Finance Ministry, is currently delivering a budget speech in the house.

According to budget documents, the budget deficits stands at Rs 14.060 billion.

While Rs 66.6 billion are allocated for law and order. Similarly Rs 107.07 billion for earmarked for education.

“We have fixed Rs 185 for development projects in the current fiscal year, the CM added. “As many as 12,000 new recruitments will be made in the police department.  Government employees will be given 10% ad-hoc relief from July 2014.” He said minimum monthly wage for labourers is fixed at Rs 11,000.

During the speech, the CM Sindh said the provincial government got Rs 81 billion less from the federal government in the ongoing fiscal year. We got Rs 327 billion instead of Rs 409 billion as estimated, he added.

He announced that Sindh government will establish law university in Malir. Rs 42 billion are allocated for development projects in Karachi, he said.

He said provinces be given right to collect sales tax on goods.
