Google has launched the Qibla-finding service on Sunday which intends to help its users find the right direction of Qibla during the holy month of Ramazan.
The web-app uses the latest augmented reality technology, generating virtual physical views, accessible through mobile browsers which enables anyone to use the service regardless of their mobile phones’ model after activating the app to identify the location.
On Android devices, the web-app uses augmented reality technology to draw a clear blue line in imagery, pointing users towards the Kaaba. Qibla-finding service works similarly on iOS devices but without the imagery.
The new feature follows a series of updates to Google applications to help users mark the month of Ramazan. The updates include Ramazan-specific notifications on Google Maps.
