Quetta: Abducted ANP leader recovered after a year

QUETTA: The Awami National Party (ANP) leader Arbab Abdul Zahir Kasi, who was abducted from Quetta last year, has now been recovered, ARY News reported Sunday.

According to his family sources, Mr. Kasi will be brought to Islamabad this evening. Details that how the ANP leader is recovered are yet to come to light.

The kidnappers had demanded Rs 1 billion ransom for release of the ANP leader.

Mr. Kasi was abducted from Quetta on October 23, 2013 when he was going in a car. Unidentified gunmen had forcibly taken Mr. Kasi away and also reportedly assaulted him before snatching away his belongings. His driver was also taken into custody by the police for interrogation.

A strike was also observed a day after Mr. Kasi’s abduction in several areas of Balochistan, including the provincial capital Quetta, against the kidnapping.

He is  also the former provincial president of the ANP.
