Quetta: Blast near religious seminary kills 1, injures 28

QUETTA: A man was killed, while 28 including 8 minor students of a religious seminary were injured in a blast in Pashtunabad area on Thursday – ARY News reports.

The blast occurred near Mattha Chowk, Pashtunabad, an adjacent area of the provincial capital. The place was reported to be crowded enough and a stampede also took place as the bomb exploded, witnesses were quoted as saying.

At least 1 man was killed, while 28 others including 8 children were injured.

The injured included a majority of the students of a nearby madressa.

The blast was so massive that the surrounding shops were damaged, while it also broke the panes of several nearby buildings.

Rescue teams shifted the injured to the Civil Hospital, while the ones in critical condition were taken to the CMH Quetta.

Meanwhile, police and Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) teams reached the site. BDS officials told that some 2-3 kg of explosives were used in the bomb.
